Our full-service clinic in Lenexa, Kansas, is a state-of-the-art research center, located near metropolitan Kansas City. With a 114-bed capacity, our Lenexa facility features spacious common areas for interacting with other participants, big-screen TVs, comfortable seating, a pool table, gaming systems, foosball, a dart board, DVDs, satellite TV, computers and more. We also offer WiFi access for those bringing their own devices. Our friendly and experienced staff are here to guide you through the clinical study and make your experience with us as positive as possible.

Anne Nevitt currently serves as executive director of clinical research services at ICON’s clinic in Lenexa, Kan., where she has worked since August 2014. Nevitt, who has 21 years of experience in the clinical research field, has worked in a variety of research-related roles during that time, including as director of operations, a clinic manager and a clinical study manager. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biological studies in 2002 from the University of Nebraska.
Dr. Daniel Dickerson has served as research physician and medical director at ICON’s clinic in Lenexa, Kan., since August 2014. Prior to joining ICON, Dr. Dickerson practiced family medicine for 15 years, including 12 years at Eudora Family Care in Eudora, Kan. He earned his doctor of medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine (KU SOM) in 1996, later completing a residency in family medicine in 1999 through the University of Kansas Medical Center and Olathe Family Practice.
Board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Dickerson served as a clinical instructor for the KU SOM for 14 years, chairman of the Governmental Advocacy Committee for the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians for 5 years, and Chief of Family Medicine for Lawrence Memorial Hospital for 4 years. Dr. Dickerson also holds a doctor of philosophy in chemistry in 1994 from the University of Missouri and has more than 25 scientific publications to his credit.
Dr. Dickerson has received several professional honors during his career, including being named the Preceptor of the Year in 2012 by KU SOM and being honored as the Rainbow Award (Hero in Medicine) recipient in 2006 by the KU SOM. In 2005, he was also recognized with Foundation Teaching Award by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Additionally, Dr. Dickerson was inducted as a fellow of the AAFP in 2002.
Dr. Patrick Yao serves as a research physician at ICON’s clinic in Lenexa, Kan., where he has worked since October 2020.
After earning a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 2011, he completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2014, in conjunction with the U.S. Air Force 55th Medical Group. He worked as a staff family medicine physician at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota prior to holding family medicine positions at Olathe (Kan.) Medical Center and TEAMHealth in Overland Park, Kan.
Prior to clinical practice, he won numerous research training awards as an undergraduate, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Intramural Research Training Award and the Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES) research fellowship. He has also participated in research studies at the National Institutes of Mental Health (NIMH), the National Institute of Arthritis, Muskuloskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) and at the University of Maryland.
While participation in a clinical study is voluntary, you may be paid for your time and travel. Compensation is based on the length of the study, the number of overnight stays in our clinic and the number of out-patient visits you attend. You may also be compensated for some procedures depending upon the study. All payments we make for study participation have been approved by an Independent Review Board (IRB). The method and frequency of payment will be described in detail in the Informed Consent Form (ICF).
Even if you don’t qualify for a particular study, you may be able
to refer a friend or family member. If approved by an
Independent Review Board (IRB), ICON may be able to provide
you a referral bonus of up to $500 for each qualified study
participant that you refer. To qualify for the payment, the
person you refer must:
• Be a first-time volunteer
• Mention your name when applying over the phone
• Fully participate in the study
All payments from ICON must be approved by an
